Review

  • An opportunity to think about what my art taste really is.
    • Landscape paintings got boring quickly. There are too many of them. They just look like photos.
    • The artworks I found that match my taste during this visit are in the attached photos.
    • The good thing about art galleries: there's something overwhelming about the size. There's a sense of presence. Similar to the reason for going to movie theaters.
    • I felt my mental health improving when I was spacing out in front of artwork I like. Maybe it's just my imagination.
  • Conclusion: I should get an AGO annual membership and go regularly.

Tips

  • You can enter for free on the first Wednesday evening of every month (6pm-9pm).
  • There was about a 20m line from 5:30pm. By 6pm, it looked like it was over 100m.
  • If you purchase tickets online in advance (for $0), you can enter quickly.
  • Since the gallery is very large, I think it's impossible to see everything in 3 hours.
    • But whether you actually need to see everything is also something to consider.
    • It's also a good strategy to do some simple research beforehand, pick a few things you want to see, and only view those.
    • Your feet might hurt after walking around for about 2 hours, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
    • There are many stairs, so I recommend taking the elevator or starting from the top floor and working your way down.
  • It costs $4 per item to check your clothes or belongings at AGO.
    • Since I visited in winter, coats and winter gear can become a burden. Be careful!
    • It's quite warm inside, so you might get hot.
  • If you bring a backpack, they will inspect your belongings. This adds extra time when entering.
